Abstract The corrosion of pure aluminium in alkaline solution has been explored using an open circuit potential transient, potentiodynamic polarization experiment and a.c. impedance spectroscopy. The steady-state value of the open circuit potential (Eocpss ) of pure aluminium in alkaline solution was observed to decrease with increasing rotation rate of the specimen, which is ascribed to the enhanced anodic reaction. The extent of anodic polarization for the aluminium dissolution reaction on…

Corrosion inhibition of AA6063 alloy by vanadates in alkaline media

Vanadium aqueous compounds are considered as promising environmentally friendly inhibitors for heterogeneous aluminium alloys. In this study, mechanism of corrosion inhibition of AA6063 in alkaline

Corrosion of aluminium alloy 1100 in post-LOCA solutions of a nuclear reactor

The corrosion and release of aluminum alloy 1100 in characteristic solutions in the containment sump of a nuclear reactor after a loss-of-coolant accident has been studied by an integral approach of

Film dissolution kinetics of aluminium at precisely adjusted pH‐values

This work focuses on the corrosion of aluminium in alkaline solution particularly at pH 11.0. The pH value plays a key role in corrosion processes. In a certain pH range, either the metal dissolves
