A chemically induced model of ovarian failure has been developed in rodents, and was used to test whether or not anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) can be used as a non-invasive measure of primordial follicle numbers. Repeated exposures of mice to 4-vinylcyclohexene diepoxide (VCD) induce loss of primordial and earliest growing ovarian follicles.
