Zinquin [(2-methyl-8-p-toluenesulphonamido-6-quinolyloxy)-acetic acid], a membrane-permeant fluorophore specific for Zn(II), was used with spectrofluorimetry and video image analysis to reveal and quantify labile intracellular Zn.
