Background/aims: Anecdotal evidence indicates that corneal reshaping contact lenses may slow myopia progression in children. The purpose of this investigation is to determine whether corneal reshaping contact lenses slow eye growth. Methods: Forty subjects were fitted with corneal reshaping contact lenses. All subjects were 8 to 11 years and had between −0.75 D and −4.00 D myopia with less than 1.00 D astigmatism. Subjects were age-matched to a soft contact lens wearer from another myopia…
Myopia Control with Corneal Reshaping Contact Lenses
TLDR
The information presented by Cho and Cheung provides insight into the mechanism of slowed myopia progression, and it provides clinicians with a method to slow myopia progress meaningfully without inducing significant side effects.
Multifocal Contact Lens Myopia Control
TLDR
Results from this and other investigations indicate a need for a long-term randomized clinical trial to investigate the potential for soft multifocal contact lens myopia control.
Myopia control with orthokeratology contact lenses in Spain: refractive and biometric changes.
TLDR
Orthokeratology contact lens wear reduces axial elongation in comparison to distance single-vision spectacles in children over a 2-year period.
Myopia control with orthokeratology contact lenses in Spain (MCOS): study design and general baseline characteristics
TLDR
To the authors’ knowledge, MCOS is the first prospective clinical trial to assess the safety and efficacy of orthokeratology contact lens wear to slow myopia progression vs. single-vision spectacle wear.
Regimen Study of High Myopia-Partial Reduction Orthokeratology.
TLDR
The two ortho-k regimens, target reduction of 6.00 D and target of 4.00D, had similar effects in controlling the increase in axial length and refractive error in high-myopia children.
The relationship between myopia progression and axial elongation in children wearing orthokeratology contact lenses.
Peripheral Refraction in High Myopia with Spherical Soft Contact Lenses
TLDR
The results suggest that in high myopia, standard soft CLs may be beneficial in reducing myopia progression and correcting the foveal refractive error with standard soft spherical contact lens can result in significant absolute myopic defocus in the peripheral retina.
Orthokeratology for myopia control: an optometrist’s view
TLDR
There is significant individual variability in efficacy, and one of the current challenges for OK in myopia control is to identify those children who will benefit most from this particular intervention, provided that safe practice is followed in terms of lens fitting, wear and care.
Long-term Efficacy of Orthokeratology Contact Lens Wear in Controlling the Progression of Childhood Myopia
TLDR
A trend toward a reduction in the rate of axial elongation of the order of 33% was found in the OK group in comparison to the CT group following 7 years of lens wear.

A randomized trial of the effect of soft contact lenses on myopia progression in children.
TLDR
These data provide reassurance to eye care practitioners concerned with the phenomenon of "myopic creep." Soft contact lens wear by children does not cause a clinically relevant increase in axial length, corneal curvature, or myopia relative to spectacle lens wear.
A randomized trial of the effects of rigid contact lenses on myopia progression.
TLDR
The results of the study provide information for eye care practitioners to share with their patients, but they do not indicate that RGPs should be prescribed primarily for myopia control.
Overnight Orthokeratology
TLDR
Overnight orthokeratology is an effective means of temporarily reducing myopia by the programmed application of rigid gas-permeable contact lenses and the possible mechanism of corneal remodeling through central cornea thinning is discussed.
Myopia progression in adolescent wearers of soft contact lenses and spectacles.
TLDR
It can be concluded that soft contact lens wear does not lead to additional myopia progression in adolescents.
The Berkeley Orthokeratology Study, Part II: Efficacy and Duration
TLDR
It is concluded that it is possible to reduce myopia about 1 D; however, the change is not permanent and the level of vision during periods of nonlens wear would be unstable, making it difficult to predict what the quality of vision would be under a retainer lens wear program.
The Longitudinal Orthokeratology Research in Children (LORIC) in Hong Kong: A Pilot Study on Refractive Changes and Myopic Control
TLDR
There was significant initial corneal flattening in the ortho-k group but no significant relationships were found between changes in Corneal power and changes in axial length and vitreous chamber depth and the relationships with changes of refractive errors, AL and VCD.

TLDR
Overnight cornea-reshaping contact lenses are efficacious for young myopic patients, and no children experienced a serious adverse event during the study.

TLDR
The myopia progression was slower in the eye treated with overnight orthokeratology (ortho-k) than in the fellow eye with no visual correction and this case suggests that myopia progress may have been slowed down by ortho- k lens wear in theEye undergoing treatment of a boy undergoing unilateral orthi-k treatment.
