The aim of this study was to investigate LC50 and toxic effect of Cu 2+ on some defense functions of tropical freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii (including total hemocyte count (THC), hyaline cell count (HCC), and phagocytic activity) as well as survivability of the prawn. The experiments were conducted to determine LC50 and the toxic effect of copper sulphate (Cu 2+ ) on THC, HCC, phagocytic activity % and survival % for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hr exposure. The 24, 48, 72 and 96 hr LC50…

Acute Toxicity of Copper to Juvenile Freshwater Prawns, Macrobrachium rosenbergii
TLDR
The acute toxicity of copper sulfate and the safe level for use in freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, production ponds in a high calcium and alkalinity environment are determined.
Effects of water-borne copper on the gills and hepatopancreas of Macrobrachium rosenbergii.
TLDR
Findings indicate that exposure to elevated copper levels might damage the ultrastructure of the gills and hepatopancreas of M. rosenbergii and might further weaken their normal physical activities.
Effect of hypoxic stress on the immune response and the resistance to vibriosis of the shrimpPenaeus stylirostris
TLDR
The variations of immunological parameters, except for the PO activity, seem to be consistent with the in vivoresponse against the pathogenic Vibrio in shrimp exposed to severe hypoxia.
Sensitivity of the freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium lanchesteri (Crustacea: Decapoda), to heavy metals
TLDR
Comparison of LC50 values for metals for this species with those for other freshwater crustacean organisms reveals that M. lanchesteri is equally or more sensitive to heavy metals than most other tested crustaceans.
The Influence of Metal and Temperature Stress on the Immune System of Crabs
TLDR
It is concluded that the immune system of C. maenas is relatively tolerant of metal stress and has no effect on recognition or phagocytosis of bacteria in vitro although Cd slightly suppressed the latter.
The physiological responses of freshwater rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, during acutely lethal copper exposure
TLDR
Copper exposure resembles low pH exposure in freshwater trout, and copper and H+ appear to be similar in both the primary site of their toxic action (the gills) and the secondary physiological consequences which result from acutely lethal exposures.

Acute toxicity of copper sulphate to fresh water prawns.
TLDR
Behavior responses and LC50 values indicate that fresh water prawns, Macrobrachium lamarrei were more sensitive to copper sulphate than M. dayanum.
