A concentration dependent increase in lipid peroxidation, carotenoid content and activity of superoxide dismutase was observed in the green microalga Chlorella vulgaris following copper exposure. In contrast, activities of catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase, and the cellular GSH, ascorbate and K+ pool depicted a reverse trend.
