Solution and solid state studies on Cu(II) complexes of pyridine-2-hydroxamic acid (HPicHA) and pyridine-2,6-dihydroxamic acid (H2PyDHA) were carried out. The use of methanol/water solvent allowed us to investigate the Cu(II)-HPicHA equilibria under homogeneous conditions between pH 1 and 11. In agreement with ESI-MS indication, the potentiometric data fitted very well with the model usually reported for copper(II) complexes of α-aminohydroxamate complexes ([CuL](+), [Cu5(LH-1)4](2+), [CuL2…

Copper(II) complexes of 3- and 4-picolinehydroxamic acids: from mononuclear compounds to 1D- and 2D-coordination polymers
A series of copper(II) complexes with 3- and 4-picolinehydroxamic acids has been synthesized and characterized by a variety of spectroscopic methods, X-ray structure analysis and magnetic
Explaining How α-Hydroxamate Ligands Control the Formation of Cu(II)-, Ni(II)-, and Zn(II)-Containing Metallacrowns.
TLDR
To understand fully the correlation between species isolated in the solid state and those presented in solution, the solution equilibria were investigated, showing the dependence of the MCs topologies and stability constants on the ligand structure and metal ion.
Synthesis and Molecular Structures of CuII 15‐Metallacrown‐5 Complexes with Encapsulated CaII, PrIII and NdIII Ions
Three complexes [Ca(ClO4)(H2O)Cu5(o-picHA-2H)5(H2O)]ClO4 (1), [Pr(NO3)2(py)Cu5(o-picHA-2H)5(py)5]ClO4 (2), and [Nd(NO3)(H2O)(py)Cu5(o-picHA-2H)5(py)5](ClO4)2·5py (3) (o-picHA = 2-picolinehydroxamic
Lanthanide complexes based on a new bis-chelating carbacylamidophosphate (CAPh) scorpionate-like ligand
TLDR
It was shown that H2L behaves like a scorpionate type ligand and in a mono-deprotonated form coordinates in a tridentate manner via the oxygen atoms of phosphoryl and carbonyl groups with formation of a mononuclear metal complex.
The peculiar behavior of Picha in the formation of metallacrown complexes with Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) in aqueous solution.
TLDR
The results of these investigations allowed us to rationalize not only the different behaviour of Picha in the formation of metallacrowns with the three metal ions, but also the reasons which underpin the strategies for stabilization of these species reported in the literature using ancillary ligands such as pyridine.
Non-symmetrical bis(aminoalkyl)phosphinates: new ligands with enhanced binding of Cu(II) ions
Three novel, non-symmetrical bis(aminoalkyl)phosphinic acids, L1–L3, have been synthesized and characterized. Solution studies on the coordination abilities of the ligands have shown that these
Crystal structure of μ-oxalodihydroxamato-bis[(2,2′-bipyridyl)(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)copper(II)] bis(perchlorate)
TLDR
A synthetic procedure and structure of the novel dinuclear copper(II) complex is reported, with a bridging oxalodihydroxamate ligand and terminal 2,2′-bipyridine and DMSO ligands completing the square pyramidal coordination spheres of the Cu( II) centres.
