Abstract

[C,Br,]Mn(CO), reacts with butyl lithium and one equivalent of SiMe,C& to yield [C,Br,SiMe,Cl]Mn(CO), (1). The reaction of 1 wrth [C&,Li]Mn(CO), (X=Br, Cl) gives the bimetalhc compounds (OC),Mn(C,Br,SiMe,-C,X,)Mn(CO), (X= Br (2), Cl (3)). 2 can also be obtained by reactron of two equivalents of [CSBr,Li]Mn(CO), with one eqmvalent of SiMe,Cl,. [C5C14Li]Mn(C0)3 reacts with Cp,TiClz, depending on the reaction conditions, to yreld the brand trrmetallic compounds [C,CI,TiCp,CI]Mn(CO), (4) and (OC),Mn(C,CI,TiCp,-C,Cl,)Mn(CO), (5). The molecular structures of 2 and 5 have been determined by X-ray crystallography.
