Intracellular recordings of the activities of 10 inspiratory bulbospinal neurones of the medulla were performed in decerebrate cats. Fictive vomiting was induced by repetitive stimulation of the supra-diaphragmatic vagus nerves and was defined by series of synchronous large bursts in both the phrenic (inspiratory) and abdominal (expiratory) nerves.
