The conventional magnon Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC of magnons with k = 0) is a coherent state of excited magnons described by a common wave function. It was observed first in antiferromagnetic superfluid states of 3He. Here we report on the discovery of a very similar magnon BEC in ferrimagnetic film at room temperature. The experiments were performed in Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) films at a magnetic field oriented perpendicular to the film. The high-density quasiequilibrium state of…

Magnonics and Supermagnonics

The magnetic community continues to discuss the possibility of observing the magnetic superfluidity, despite the fact that it has been discovered a long time ago. It was observed in antiferromagnetic

Magnon condensation and spin superfluidity

Stability of Bose-Einstein condensates of hot magnons in yttrium iron garnet films.

It is predicted that a high-density room-temperature magnon BEC should form in this perpendicular field geometry if a strong field applied perpendicular to the sample plane leads to a repulsive magnon-magnon interaction.

It is demonstrated that the coherent precession of magnetization is a true BEC of magnons, with theMagnon interaction term in the Gross-Pitaevskii equation being provided by spin-orbit coupling which is different for different states of the magnon BEC.

Self-trapping of magnon Bose-Einstein condensates in the ground state and on excited levels: from harmonic to box confinement.

This is the first experimental example of Bose condensation in a box and the orbital texture reorients under the influence of the spin-orbit interaction and the profile of the trap gradually changes from harmonic to a square well, with walls almost impenetrable to magnons.

Bose-Einstein Condensation of Magnons in Superfluid 3He

Abstract The possibility of Bose-Einstein condensation of excitations has been discussed for a long time. The phenomenon of the phase-coherent precession of magnetization in superfluid 3He and the

Cavity quantum electrodynamics with ferromagnetic magnons in a small yttrium-iron-garnet sphere

Hybridizing collective spin excitations and a cavity with high cooperativity provides a new research subject in the field of cavity quantum electrodynamics and can also have potential applications to

Evidence for Magnon BEC in Superfluid 3He-A

The phenomenon of phase-coherent precession of magnetization in superfluid 3He and the related effects of spin superfluidity are based on the true Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons. Several

High-Tc spin superfluidity in antiferromagnets.

The signals show the formation of the Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of magnons and the existence of spin supercurrent, in complete analogy with the spin superfluidity in the superfluid (3)He and the atomic BEC of quantum gases.

Spatially non-uniform ground state and quantized vortices in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate of magnons

A study of BEC of magnons with sub-micrometer spatial resolution confirms the existence of the two wave-functions and shows that their interference results in a non-uniform ground state of the condensate with the density oscillating in space.

Bose–Einstein condensation of exciton polaritons

A comprehensive set of experiments giving compelling evidence for BEC of polaritons of bosonic quasi-particles are detailed, which indicate the spontaneous onset of a macroscopic quantum phase.
