Using quantum dot fluorescence imaging, we investigated the interference of surface plasmon beams in branched silver nanowire structures. Depending on the phases and polarizations of the incident light, interferences of plasmon beams modulate the plasmon propagation in the branched structures and the output light intensity in the distal ends. The interference visibility is strongly dependent on the incident polarization at the main wire terminal, and the mechanism is revealed by quantum dot…

Routing of surface plasmons in silver nanowire networks controlled by polarization and coating.
TLDR
The routing of surface plasmons in silver nanowire structures is studied by combining experiments and electromagnetic simulations to demonstrate that the near field distribution on the nanowires controls the surface plasmon transmission in the Nanowire networks.
Plasmonic polarization beam splitting based on single silver nanowire.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that a thick silver nanowire with well-defined end facets can provide multiple outcoupling channels, and the controllable beam splitting is realized, to deepen the understanding of manipulation of surface plasmons propagation/emission, and advance the development of plasmonic waveguide-based nano-photonic devices.

Characterisation and Manipulation of Polarisation Response in Plasmonic and Magneto-Plasmonic Nanostructures and Metamaterials
TLDR
This review pays special attention to polarisation and its effect in three contrasting aspects, tailoring between LSPR scattering and symmetry of plasmonic nanostructures, secondly, manipulating polarisation state through metamaterials and lastly, polarisation modulation in magneto-plasmonics.

Direct photonic–plasmonic coupling and routing in single nanowires
TLDR
It is demonstrated that SPPs can be excited simply by contacting a silver nanowire with a SnO2 nanoribbon that serves both as an unpolarized light source and a dielectric waveguide, which makes it possible to measure the propagation-distance-dependent waveguide spectra and frequency-dependent propagation length on a single Ag nanowires.
Directional light emission from propagating surface plasmons of silver nanowires.
TLDR
It is observed that light from the end of a silver nanowire, following excitation of plasmons at the other end of the wire, is emitted in a cone of angles peaking at nominally 45-60 degrees from the Nanowire axis, with virtually no light emitted along the direction of the nanowires.

This work demonstrates a cavity-free, broadband approach for engineering photon–emitter interactions via subwavelength confinement of optical fields near metallic nanostructures and shows that efficient coupling is accompanied by more than 2.5-fold enhancement of the quantum dot spontaneous emission, in good agreement with theoretical predictions.
