Using theoretical and computational modeling, we focus on dynamics of gels filled with uniformly dispersed ferromagnetic nanoparticles subjected to electromagnetic (EM) irradiation within the GHz frequency range. As a polymer matrix, we choose poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) gel, which has a low critical solution temperature and shrinks upon heating. When these composites are irradiated with a frequency close to the Ferro-Magnetic Resonance (FMR) frequency, the heating rate increases dramatically…

Mechanical Adaptability of Patterns in Constrained Hydrogel Membranes.
TLDR
It is pointed out that mechanical forcing can be harnessed to control the onset of buckling, postbuckling dynamics, and hysteresis phenomena in gel-based systems, introducing novel means of tailoring the functionality of soft structured surfaces and interfaces.
Computational design of nanostructured soft interfaces: focus on shape changes and spreading of cubic nanogels.
TLDR
Dissipative Particle Dynamics simulations are used to focus on the shape changes of a cubic nanogel as it adsorbs from the aqueous phase onto the oil-water interface effectively acting as a compatibilizer, showing that controlling the shapes and clustering of the gels at the interfaces via variations in solvent quality results in tailoring dynamics and topography of soft nanostructured interfaces.

Investigation of magnetic properties of Fe3O4 nanoparticles using temperature dependent magnetic hyperthermia in ferrofluids
Rate of heat generated by magnetic nanoparticles in a ferrofluid is affected by their magnetic properties, temperature, and viscosity of the carrier liquid. We have investigated temperature dependent

TLDR
A synthetic route to prepare functionalized, stable magnetite nanoparticles coated with a temperature-responsive polymer, by means of the hydrothermal method combined with an oil/water emulsion process is described, which could provide a promising nanoparticle system for combined diagnostics and cancer therapy.
Theoretical and computational modeling of self-oscillating polymer gels.
TLDR
The authors model wave propagation in swollen, chemoresponsive polymer gels that are undergoing the oscillatory Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction and develop the gel lattice spring model (gLSM), which is a computationally efficient approach for simulating large-scale, two-dimensional (2D) deformations and chemical reactions within a swollen polymer network.
Size-Dependent Heating of Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles.
TLDR
It is shown that MIONs with large sizes (>20 nm) have a specific absorption rate (SAR) significantly higher than that predicted by the widely used linear theory of MFH, which offers important insight into the rationale design of MION-based MFH for therapeutic applications.
