The SEAL Pipeline is a 34 pipeline for the export of gas to Bacton from the Elf operated Elgin-Franklin fields and the Shell operated Shearwater field. The SEAL Pipeline operates at relatively high temperature and pressure. As a consequence of the axial compression forces induced by temperature and pressure, Euler buckling is a potential hazard for the pipeline integrity over a significant length.
