In this study, we demonstrate that mixed reverse micelles are good candidates to be used as nanoreactors for formation of shape-controlled high-quality colloidal nanocrystals and nanowires under mild conditions. Manipulation of the rate of nucleation and subsequent growth of the Au in the mixed reverse micelles induce drastic changes in the particle shape and structure.
