Bicarbonate transport (JHCO3) was studied in rat proximal convoluted tubules by luminal and peritubular microperfusion, and the effects on tubular bicarbonate transport of selective changes in luminal and peritubular bicarbonate concentrations and of changes in luminal flow rate were evaluated.
