This study focused on some aspects of the reproductive biology of Tilapia cabrae of UmuoseJiche lake, a man-made lake in Imo State, Nigeria. Basic somatic characteristics such as male: female sex ratio, gonadosomatic index, breeding cyclicity and fecundity were determined. The relationship between total length, standard length, body weight, gutted weight and  ovarian weight were estimated from the simple linear regression model F = al3• Males were dominant in the samples i n ApJiI, June, July…
A comparative study on the hatchability and survival rate of African catfish, Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822), induced with catfish’s pituitary gland hormone from farmed and wild sources
TLDR
Treatment F♀ × F♂ should be used during the induced breeding of catfish (CG) due to the higher fecundity, hatchability, and survived fries observed.
Induced breeding of Clarias gariepinus using non- conventional method of abdominal incision
TLDR
The specie of C. gariepinus could be reused for further genetic studies after abdominal incision breeding method and milt can be extracted without killing the male brood stock but proper and adequate feeding is necessary to hasten the maturation and development of the gonads.
