To study the interactions between insulin and contraction on the skeletal muscle glucose transport system, the hindquarters of male rats were perfused in the absence of insulin, in the presence of insulin (30 mU/ml), during contractions induced by sciatic nerve stimulation, or during contractions plus insulin.
