OBJECTIVE We examined the effects of mono and polyphasic oral contraceptives containing desogestrel or levonorgestrel on serum lipoproteins, sex hormone binding globulin and post-heparin plasma lipase activities. DESIGN The women took either desogestrel or levonorgestrel during the first menstrual cycle on days 15-28.
