Backpropagation is extended to continuous-time feedforward networks with internal, adaptable time delays. The new technique is suitable for parallel hardware implementation, with continuous multidimensional training signals. The resulting networks can be used for signal prediction, signal production, and spatiotemporal pattern recognition tasks.
