In [BNP5] the authors relate the extensions between two simple modules for a finite group of Lie type Gσ(Fq) (where q = pr) to certain extensions for the corresponding reductive group and its Frobenius kernels. Several of these results require the characteristic p of the underlying field to be sufficiently large (p ≥ 3(h − 1), with h being the Coxeter number of the root system).
