The solidification of the SrO-Al2O3 binary system was investigated under containerless conditions using an aerodynamic levitation furnace. Glass formation was observed in compositions with 35-45 mol% SrO and 55-75 mol% SrO. Cooling curves were obtained at a constant cooling rate in the range of 1-1000 °C s(-1). The crystallization temperature was apparently independent of the cooling rate and far below the melting point when the sample was fully crystallized, whereas it decreased when the…

Crystallization and Optical Properties of Sr3Al2O6-SrAl2O4 Eutectic Glass
SrO-Al2O3 ceramics has prospective applications due to its photo-luminescence and persistent afterglow properties. Sr3Al2O6-SrAl2O4 eutectic glass was prepared by using the aerodynamic levitator
Spark plasma sintering of bulk SrAl2O4-Sr3Al2O6 eutectic glass with wide-band optical window.
TLDR
The results show that the bulk SrAl 2O4-Sr3Al2O6 samples fabricated by the containerless process and SPS between 852 °C-857 °C were fully amorphous and may be a promising candidate for optical applications.
Influence of modifier cations on the local environment of aluminum in La2O3-Al2O3 and Y2O3-Al2O3 binary glasses.
TLDR
The relationship between the fundamental structure of the AlO4 network and two parameters (the ratio of the number of oxygen atoms to that of Al and field strength) is discussed and the amount of non-bridging oxygen increases with an increase in x.
Reconsideration of Viscosity Variation Mechanism in Calcium Ferrite Melt During Isothermal Melting Process
Two hypotheses exist to explain the viscosity decrease mechanism of calcium ferrite (CF) melts during isothermal melting in air: variations in either the short-range structure near Fe3+ or the Fe
Er3+ infrared fluorescence affected by spatial distribution synchronicity of Ba2+ and Er3+ in Er3+-doped BaO–SiO2 glasses
Glasses with the composition xBaO–(99.9 − x)SiO2–0.1ErO3/2 (0 ≤x ≤ 34.9) were fabricated by a levitation technique. The glasses in the immiscibility region were opaque due to chemical inhomogeneity,
