Abstract Maine wild blueberries prepared for the fresh pack market compete with cultivated blueberries for market share. In an effort to increase market share, Maine producers are seeking an understanding of consumer preference and how it relates to objective blueberry quality measures. Consumer and instrumental measurements were evaluated over a 3-year period from 1996 to 1998. Freshly harvested blueberries were sized according to diameter; 6–8, 9–10 and 11–12 mm.
