Abstract A series of triphenylamine-functionalized phthalazinone-based covalent triazine framework materials (PHCTF-8) with high specific surface areas were successfully designed and constructed from a novel, centrosymmetric, and pinwheel-like tricyano precursor (TPAHPZ-TN) by ionothermal polymerization.
