We have studied constraints on the equation of state, w, and speed of sound, c{sub s}, of the dark energy from a joint analysis of data from the cosmic microwave background, large scale structure and type-Ia supernovae. We find that current observations have no significant sensitivity to c{sub s}. However, there is a slight difference between models in which there are no dark energy perturbations and models in which dark energy behaves as a fluid. Assuming that there are no dark energy… Expand

CONSTRAINTS ON THE SOUND SPEED OF DYNAMICAL DARK ENERGY
In this paper we study in detail the sound speed — $c_s^2$, which is directly related to the classical perturbations — of dynamical dark energy (DE). We consider especially the case with an equationExpand
Dark energy with non-adiabatic sound speed: initial conditions and detectability
Assuming that the universe contains a dark energy fluid with a constant linear equation of state and a constant sound speed, we study the prospects of detecting dark energy perturbations using CMBExpand
Observational constraints on oscillating dark-energy parametrizations
We perform a detailed confrontation of various oscillating dark-energy parame-trizations with the latest sets of observational data. In particular, we use data from Joint Light Curve analysis (JLA)Expand
Confronting the sound speed of dark energy with future cluster surveys
Future cluster surveys will observe galaxy clusters numbering in the hundred thousands. We consider this work how these surveys can be used to constrain dark energy parameters: in particular, theExpand
Constraints on Generalized Dark Energy from Recent Observations
Effects of a generalized dark energy fluid are investigated on cosmic density fluctuations such as a cosmic microwave background. As a general dark energy fluid, we take into consideration theExpand
Sound speed of scalar field dark energy: Weak effects and large uncertainties
The possibility of reconstruction of Lagrangian for the scalar field dark energy with constant effective sound speed $c_s$ is analyzed. It is found that such reconstruction can be made with accuracyExpand
Understanding the origin of CMB constraints on dark energy
We study the observational constraints of cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropies on models of dark energy, with special focus on models with variation inExpand
Observational constraints on low redshift evolution of dark energy: How consistent are different observations?
The dark energy component of the Universe is often interpreted either in terms of a cosmological constant or as a scalar field. A generic feature of the scalar field models is that the equation ofExpand
Dark energy evolution and the curvature of the universe from recent observations
We discuss the constraints on the time-varying equation of state for dark energy and the curvature of the universe using observations of type Ia supernovae from Riess et al. and the most recentExpand
Constraints on dark energy evolution
We investigate a class of dark energy models in which the equation of state undergoes a rapid transition and for which the Hubble SN Ia diagram is known to be poorly discriminant. InterestinglyExpand
