We define a focus point (FP) asymmetry, ${A}_{\mathrm{FP}}$, obtained by integrating the normalized transverse momentum distribution of either lepton produced in the Drell-Yan (DY) process below and above a point where a variety of popular ${Z}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ models all have the same magnitude. For a given ${Z}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ mass the position of this FP is predictable, depending only on the collider energy and on the low transverse momentum cut chosen in the normalization procedure. The…
Using leptons $p_T$ measurements to constrain $Z^\prime$-bosons widths in Drell-Yan processes at the LHC
We recognise the appearance of a Focus Point (FP) in the transverse momentum distribution of either leptons originating from a BSM $Z^\prime$-boson decay, after a simple normalisation procedure.
Constraining parton distribution functions from neutral current Drell-Yan measurements
We study the cross section σ and forward-backward asymmetry (AFB) in the process pp→γ∗,Z→+- (with =e, μ) for determinations of parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton. We show that, once
Interference effects in dilepton resonance searches for Z′ bosons and dark matter mediators
Abstract New Z′ gauge bosons arise in many extensions of the Standard Model and predict resonances in the dilepton invariant mass spectrum. Searches for such resonances therefore provide important
Hierarchical fermions and detectable Z ' from effective two-Higgs-triplet 3-3-1 model
We develop a ${\rm SU}(3)_C\otimes {\rm SU}(3)_L\otimes {\rm U}(1)_X$ model where the number of fermion generations is fixed by cancellation of gauge anomalies, being a type of 3-3-1 model with new
Phenomenology of Z' bosons and their searches at the LHC Run-II
This thesis investigates the phenomenology of massive neutral spin-1 heavy resonances (Z'-bosons) and their searches at the Large Hadron Collider. In particular the focus here is on the detection of
