When supersymmetry is spontaneously broken it will be generically non-linearly realized. A method to describe the non-linear realization of supersymmetry is with constrained superfields. We discuss the basic features of this description and review some recent developments in supergravity.

Constrained superfields in dynamical background

Abstract We study the nonlinear realization of supersymmetry in a dynamical/cosmological background in which derivative terms like kinetic terms are finite. Starting from linearly realized theories,

Non‐linear Realizations and Higher Curvature Supergravity

We focus on non‐linear realizations of local supersymmetry as obtained by using constrained superfields in supergravity. New constraints, beyond those of rigid supersymmetry, are obtained whenever

Aspects of the new Fayet-Iliopoulos terms

We review the properties of the new type of Fayet-Iliopoulos terms that do not require the gauging of the R-symmetry when embedded in N=1 supergravity, and we discuss recent developments.

The Super-Stückelberg procedure and dS in pure supergravity

A non-trivial generalization of unimodular gravity to minimal N=1 supergravity, which allows for de Sitter solutions without the need of introducing any matter, and introduces the goldstino associated with spontaneous breaking of supersymmetry in a natural way.

Nilpotent superfields for broken abelian symmetries

Constrained superfields in supergravity

A bstractWe analyze constrained superfields in supergravity. We investigate the consistency and solve all known constraints, presenting a new class that may have interesting applications in the

Minimal supergravity inflation

We construct inflationary models in the context of supergravity with orthogonal nilpotent superfields [1]. When local supersymmetry is gauge-fixed in the unitary gauge, these models describe theories

From linear to non-linear SUSY and back again

A bstractWe show that couplings of the goldstino field, appearing when global supersymmetry is broken, can always be described in superspace by means of a nilpotent chiral superfield X, satisfying X2

Complex linear superfield as a model for Goldstino

We propose a Goldstino model formulated in terms of a constrained complex linear superfield. Its comparison to other Goldstino models is given. Couplings to supersymmetric matter and supergravity are

On the origin of constrained superfields

A bstractIn this work we analyze constrained superfields in supersymmetry and supergravity. We propose a constraint that, in combination with the constrained goldstino multiplet, consistently removes

Component action of nilpotent multiplet coupled to matter in 4 dimensional N=1$$ \mathcal{N}=1 $$ supergravity

A bstractWe construct the component action of the system including an ordinary matter and a nilpotent multiplet in global and local supersymmetric framework. The higher dimensional operators of not

Linear versus non-linear supersymmetry, in general

A bstractWe study superconformal and supergravity models with constrained superfields. The underlying version of such models with all unconstrained superfields and linearly realized supersymmetry is

Pure de Sitter supergravity

Using superconformal methods we derive an explicit de Sitter supergravity action invariant under spontaneously broken local N = 1 supersymmetry. The supergravity multiplet interacts with a nilpotent
