Twelve yeasts isolated from lakes of Northwestern Patagonia, Argentina, belonging to eight genera (Sporobolomyces, Sporidiobolus, Rhodotorula, Rhodosporidium, Cystofilobasidium, Cryptococcus, Torulaspora, and Candida) were analysed for their ability to produce photoprotective compounds.
