A successful course of antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is durable and can result in significant long-term benefit; however, many patients who undergo combination therapy with pegylated interferon alfa (PegIFN) and ribavirin (RBV) ultimately fail and develop persistent viremia.
