Anybody teaching (or taking) a course in the history of mathematics should find much here of interest, and in fact I think this is a book that should be part of the personal library of any mathematician. Indeed, I can't think of a better way to end this review then by quoting the last line of our 2007 review: “if this book was not already on my shelves I would go out and buy it”. 10.1017/mag.2019.81 MARK HUNACEK Iowa State University, Ames, IA 50011 USA
