At 123 K, crystals of cholesteryl cis-9-hexadecenoate (cholesteryl palmitoleate, C45H74O2) are monoclinic, space group P2(1) with cell dimensions a = 12.917(7), b = 8.910(5), c = 34.04(1) A, beta = 94.95(7) degrees [lambda(CuK alpha) = 1.5424 A] having two independent molecules (A and B) per unit cell. The crystal structure has been determined from 6178 reflections with sin theta/lambda less than or equal to 0.56 A-1, of which 3406 gave [F] greater than 3 sigma. Structure refinement by…

Conformation of the oleate chains in crystals of cholesteryl oleate at 123 K.
TLDR
At 123 K, crystals of cholesteryl cis-9-octadecenoate (cholesteryl oleate, C45H78O2) are monoclinic, space group P2(1) with unit cell dimensions, which are very similar to those observed in the room temperature structure.
Structural determination and packing analysis of a cholesteryl caprate/cholesteryl laurate solid solution.
TLDR
Although the overall monolayer 1 lamellar packing is superficially similar to the earlier-studied cholesteryl undecanoate/cholesteryl laurate solid solution, a more partitioned distribution of acyl chains, i.e., a microfractionation corresponding to the observed nonideal phase behavior, is suggested.
Physicochemical properties of dexamethasone palmitate, a high fatty acid ester of an anti-inflammatory drug: polymorphism and crystal structure.
Two polymorphic crystalline forms of dexamethasone palmitate were obtained from acetone (Form A) and n-heptane (Form B), and characterized by X-ray powder patterns and IR spectra. The crystal

Conformation and packing of unsaturated chains in crystals of cholesteryl nervonate at 123 K.
TLDR
At 123 K, cholesterol cis-15-tetracosenoate (cholesteryl nervonate, C51H90O2) is monoclinic, space group P2(1) with a = 12.948(5) degrees, having two independent molecules (A and (B) in the unit cell, and the crystal structure consists of layers in which there is close packing of cholesteryl groups and the proximal segments of the ester chains.

Crystal structure of anhydrous cholesterol
TLDR
It is reported here that anhydrous cholesterol crystals are also triclinic, with eight independent molecules per cell, which offers additional insight into the packing of cholesterol molecules, and a comparison with the monohydrate structure.
Unusual properties of retinyl palmitate hydrolase activity in rat liver.
TLDR
The results suggest that the observed RPH activity is relatively specific for the hydrolysis of retinyl palmitate, and may therefore be significantly involved in hepatic retinyl ester metabolism.
