Abstract Classical world-sheet string theory has recently been shown to be nonintegrable and chaotic in various confining string theory backgrounds – the AdS soliton background in particular. In this Letter we study a minisuperspace quantization of the theory and look at properties of the spectrum like the distribution of level spacing, which are indicative of quantum order or chaos. In the quantum spectrum we find a gradual transition from chaotic (Wigner GOE) to integrable (Poisson) regime as…

Chaos of QCD string from holography
It is challenging to quantify chaos of QCD, because nonperturbative QCD accompanies nonlocal observables. By using holography, we find that QCD strings at large Nc and strong coupling limit exhibit
Gravitational collapse, chaos in CFT correlators and the information paradox
Abstract We consider gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime. Following the AdS/CFT dictionary we further study correlations in the field theory
Non-integrability in non-relativistic theories
A bstractGeneric non-relativistic theories giving rise to non-integrable string solutions are classified. Our analysis boils down to a simple algebraic condition for the scaling parameters of the
Chaos in classical string dynamics in γˆ deformed AdS5 × T1,1
Abstract We consider a circular string in γ ˆ deformed A d S 5 × T 1 , 1 which is localized in the center of A d S 5 and winds around the two circles of deformed T 1 , 1 . We observe chaos in the
On marginal deformations and non-integrability
A bstractWe study the interplay between a particular marginal deformation of $ \mathcal{N} $ = 4 super Yang-Mills theory, the β deformation, and integrability in the holographic setting. Using modern
Analytic integrability for strings on η and λ deformed backgrounds
A bstractIn this paper, based on simple analytic techniques, we explore the integrability conditions for classical stringy configurations defined over η as well as λ-deformed backgrounds. We perform
A quantum Rosetta Stone for the information paradox
The black hole information loss paradox epitomizes the contradictions between general relativity and quantum field theory. The AdS/conformal field theory (CFT) correspondence provides an implicit
Chaos from the ring string in a Gauss-Bonnet black hole in AdS5 space
By the Poincare sections, the dynamical behaviors of the ring string in the AdS-Gauss-Bonnet (AdS-GB) black hole are studied. A threshold value of the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) parameter $\lambda$ are found
Analytic (non)integrability of Arutyunov-Bassi-Lacroix model
We use the notion of the gauge/string duality and discuss the Liouvillian (non)integrability criteria for string sigma models in the context of recently proposed Arutyunov-BassiLacroix (ABL) model
Numerical Bootstrap in Quantum Mechanics
We study the effectiveness of the numerical bootstrap techniques recently developed in [1] for quantum mechanical systems. We find that for a double well potential the bootstrap method correctly

Chaos around holographic Regge trajectories
A bstractUsing methods of Hamiltonian dynamical systems, we show analytically that a dynamical system connected to the classical spinning string solution holographically dual to the principal Regge
Integrability lost: Chaotic dynamics of classical strings on a confining holographic background
Abstract It is known that classical string dynamics on pure AdS 5 × S 5 is integrable and plays an important role in solvability. This is a deep and central issue in holography. Here we investigate
A string theory explanation for quantum chaos in the hadronic spectrum
A bstractIn the 1950’s Wigner and collaborators provided an explanation for the spectrum of hadronic excitations in terms of Random Matrix Theory. In the 1980’s it was understood that some hadronic
Aspects of semiclassical strings in AdS5
Abstract We find an infinite number of conserved currents and charges in the semiclassical limit λ →∞ of string theory in AdS 5 × S 5 and remark on their relevance to conserved charges in the dual
Chaos in the gauge/gravity correspondence
We study the motion of a string in the background of the Schwarzschild black hole in AdS5 by applying the standard arsenal of dynamical systems. Our description of the phase space includes: the power
Time-dependent Systems and Chaos in String Theory
OF DISSERTATION TIME-DEPENDENT SYSTEMS AND CHAOS IN STRING THEORY One of the phenomenal results emerging from string theory is the AdS/CFT correspondence or gauge-gravity duality: In certain cases a
Large N Field Theories, String Theory and Gravity
We review the holographic correspondence between field theories and string/M theory, focusing on the relation between compactifications of string/M theory on Anti-de Sitter spaces and conformal field
Chaos rules out integrability of strings on AdS5×T1,1
Abstract We show that certain classical string configurations in AdS 5 × T 1 , 1 are chaotic. This answers the question of integrability of string on such backgrounds in the negative. We consider a
Anti-de Sitter space and holography
Recently, it has been proposed by Maldacena that large $N$ limits of certain conformal field theories in $d$ dimensions can be described in terms of supergravity (and string theory) on the product of
Analytic nonintegrability in string theory
Using analytic techniques developed for Hamiltonian dynamical systems we show that a certain classical string configurations in AdS_5 x X_5 with X_5 in a large class of Einstein spaces, is
