We construct nonparametric confidence sets for regression functions using wavelets that are uniform over Besov balls. We consider both thresholding and modulation estimators for the wavelet coefficients. The confidence set is obtained by showing that a pivot process, constructed from the loss function, converges uniformly to a mean zero Gaussian process. Inverting this pivot yields a confidence set for the wavelet coefficients, and from this we obtain confidence sets on functionals of the…

NONPARAMETRIC CONFIDENCE SETS FOR DENSITIES Running Head : Nonparametric Confidence Sets
We present a method for constructing nonparametric confidence sets for density functions based on an approach due to Beran and Dümbgen (1998). We expand the density in an appropriate basis and we

TLDR
A new nonparametric curve estimator and convergence ratio of given estimator is investigated by using cross-validation method to choice of wavelet threshold when the observations are taken on the regular grid and by using R software to compare purpose estimator with another estimators.
Adaptive nonparametric confidence sets
We construct honest confidence regions for a Hilbert space-valued parameter in various statistical models. The confidence sets can be centered at arbitrary adaptive estimators, and have diameter
Generalized fiducial inference for wavelet regression
We apply Fisher's fiducial idea to wavelet regression, first developing a general methodology for handling model selection problems within the fiducial framework. We propose fiducial-based methods
Adaptive Confidence Sets for the Optimal Approximating Model
In the setting of high-dimensional linear models with Gaussian noise, we investigate the possibility of confidence statements connected to model selection. Although there exist numerous procedures
An adaptation theory for nonparametric confidence intervals
A nonparametric adaptation theory is developed for the construction of confidence intervals for linear functionals. A between class modulus of continuity captures the expected length of adaptive

CONFIDENCE BANDS IN DENSITY ESTIMATION
Given a sample from some unknown continuous density f: ℝ → ℝ, we construct adaptive confidence bands that are honest for all densities in a "generic" subset of the union of t-Holder balls, 0 < t ≤ r,
Adaptive Confidence Balls
Adaptive confidence balls are constructed for individual resolution levels as well as the entire mean vector in a multiresolution framework. Finite sample lower bounds are given for the minimum

Adaptive confidence interval for pointwise curve estimation
We present a procedure associated with nonlinear wavelet methods that provides adaptive confidence intervals around f(x 0 ), in either a white noise model or a regression setting. A suitable
Posterior probability intervals for wavelet thresholding
We use cumulants to derive Bayesian credible intervals for wavelet regression estimates. The first four cumulants of the posterior distribution of the estimates are expressed in terms of the observed
ASYMPTOTIC MINIMAXITY OF WAVELET ESTIMATORS WITH SAMPLED DATA
Donoho and Johnstone (1998) studied a setting where data were obtained in the continuum white noise model and showed that scalar nonlinearities applied to wavelet coefficients gave estimators which
Minimax estimation via wavelet shrinkage
We attempt to recover an unknown function from noisy, sampled data. Using orthonormal bases of compactly supported wavelets, we develop a nonlinear method which works in the wavelet domain by simple
Wavelet Shrinkage using Cross-validation
SUMMARY Wavelets are orthonormal basis functions with special properties that show potential in many areas of mathematics and statistics. This paper concentrates on the estimation of functions and
WAVELET SHRINKAGE FOR NONEQUISPACED SAMPLES
Standard wavelet shrinkage procedures for nonparametric regression are restricted to equispaced samples. There, data are transformed into empirical wavelet coefficients and threshold rules are

Modulation Estimators and Confidence Sets
An unknown signal plus white noise is observed at n discretetime points. Within a large convex class of linear estimators of the signal, we choose the one which minimizes estimated quadratic risk. By

An inequality is given for the expected length of a confidence interval given that a particular distribution generated the data and assuming that the confidence interval has a given coverage
