We explore the possible phases of a condensed dark matter (DM) candidate taken to be in the form of a fermion with a Yukawa coupling to a scalar particle, at zero temperature but at finite density. This theory essentially depends on only four parameters, the Yukawa coupling, the fermion mass, the scalar mediator mass, and the DM density. At low fermion densities we delimit the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS), Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) and crossover phases as a function of model parameters…

Gravitationally bound BCS state as dark matter
- Physics
- 2016
We explore the possibility that fermionic dark matter undergoes a BCS transition to form a superfluid. This requires an attractive interaction between fermions and we describe a possible source of…
New constraints on the mass of fermionic dark matter from dwarf spheroidal galaxies
- Physics
- 2020
Dwarf spheroidal galaxies are excellent systems to probe the nature of fermionic dark matter due to their high observed dark matter phase-space density. In this work, we review, revise and improve…
Cores in Dwarf Galaxies from Fermi Repulsion
- Physics
- 2017
We show that Fermi repulsion can lead to cored density profiles in dwarf galaxies for sub-keV fermionic dark matter. We treat the dark matter as a quasi-degenerate self-gravitating Fermi gas and…
New analysis of neutron star constraints on asymmetric dark matter
- PhysicsJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
- 2019
Due to their extreme density and low temperature, neutron stars (NS) are efficient probes to unveil interactions between standard model and dark matter (DM) particles. From elastic scatterings on NS…
A practical and consistent parametrization of dark matter self-interactions
- PhysicsJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
- 2020
Self-interacting dark matter has been proposed to explain the apparent mass deficit in astrophysical small-scale halos, while observations from galaxy clusters suggest that the corresponding cross…
Dwarf spheroidal galaxies as degenerate gas of free fermions
- Physics
- 2014
In this paper we analyze a simple scenario in which Dark Matter (DM) consists of free fermions with mass mf. We assume that on galactic scales these fermions are capable of forming a degenerate Fermi…
Evaporation of dark matter from celestial bodies
- PhysicsJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
- 2022
Scatterings of galactic dark matter (DM) particles with the constituents of celestial bodies could result in their accumulation within these objects. Nevertheless, the finite temperature of the…
