Deposition of fibrillar amyloid beta protein (A beta) is increased in brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Concentrations of A beta were measured in cerebrospinal fluid with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 10 neurological patients free from neurodegenerative disease, 28 patients with Parkinson's disease, and 18 patients with probable Alzheimer's disease.
