In 1972 I summarized the turnover situation in a section of an article in Computing Surveys (Willoughby, 1972). Since most of those comments still apply, they are repeated here. Until 1970 most observers believed that one of the most critical MIS personnel problems was turnover. Published estimates of annual turnover of systems professionals ranged up to 35%. The individual company figures seen by the author ranged from 15% to 35% with the majority about 20%. Is this very high? A comparison… CONTINUE READING
