We consider random walks in i.i.d. elliptic random environments which are not uniformly elliptic. We introduce a computable condition in dimension d = 2 and a general condition valid for dimensions d ≥ 2 expressed in terms of the exit time from a box, which ensure that local trapping would not inhibit a ballistic behavior of the random walk. An important technical innovation related to our computable condition, is the introduction of a geometrical point of view to classify the way in which the… Expand

Ellipticity criteria for ballistic behavior of random walks in random environment
We introduce ellipticity criteria for random walks in i.i.d. random environments under which we can extend the ballisticity conditions of Sznitman and the polynomial effective criteria of Berger,Expand
Sharp ellipticity conditions for ballistic behavior of random walks in random environment
We sharpen the ellipticity criteria for random walks in i.i.d. random environments introduced by Campos and Ramirez which ensure ballistic behavior. Furthermore, we construct new examples of randomExpand
An effective criterion for ballistic behavior of random walks in random environment
Abstract We investigate multi-dimensional random walks in random environment. Specifically, we provide an effective criterion which can be checked by inspection of the environment in a finite box,Expand
Effective Polynomial Ballisticity Conditions for Random Walk in Random Environment
The conditions (T)γ, γ ∊ (0,1), which were introduced by Sznitman in 2002, have had a significant impact on research in random walk in a random environment. Among others, these conditions entail aExpand
On new examples of ballistic random walks in random environment
In this article we show that random walks in random environment on Zd, d≥3, with transition probabilities which are e-perturbations of the simple random walk and such that the expectation of theExpand
New high-dimensional examples of ballistic random walks in random environment
We give new criteria for ballistic behavior of random walks in random environment which are perturbations of the simple symmetric random walk on $\mathbb Z^d$ in dimensions $d\ge 4$. Our resultsExpand
On a Class Of Transient Random Walks in Random Environment
We introduce in this article a class of transient random walks in a random environment on Z d . When d ≥ 2, these walks are ballistic and we derive a law of large numbers, a central limit theorem andExpand
New examples of ballistic RWRE in the low disorder regime
We give a new criterion for ballistic behavior of random walks in random environments which are low disorder perturbations of the simple symmetric random walk on $\mathbb{Z}^d$, for $d\geq 2$. ThisExpand
Reversed Dirichlet environment and directional transience of random walks in Dirichlet random environment
We consider random walks in a random environment that is given by i.i.d. Dirichlet distributions at each vertex of Z^d or, equivalently, oriented edge reinforced random walks on Z^d. The parametersExpand
A Proof of Sznitman's Conjecture about Ballistic RWRE
We consider a random walk in a uniformly elliptic i.i.d. random environment in $\mathbb Z^d$ for $d\ge 2$. It is believed that whenever the random walk is transient in a given direction it isExpand
