The direct measurement of a complex wave function has been recently realized by using weak values. In this Letter, we introduce a method that exploits sparsity for the compressive measurement of the transverse spatial wave function of photons. The procedure involves weak measurements of random projection operators in the spatial domain followed by postselection in the momentum basis. Using this method, we experimentally measure a 192-dimensional state with a fidelity of 90% using only 25…

Direct measurement of the two-dimensional spatial quantum wave function via strong measurements

Wavefunction is the foundation of quantum theory, which is assumed to give a complete description of a quantum system. For a long time, wavefunction is introduced as an abstract element of the theory

Direct Measurement of the Photon’s Spatial Wave Function

This work overviews recent progress in the tomography of structured light fields, with an emphasis on the method of direct measurement, and presents a summary of various implementations of this technique that aim to characterize the spatial degree of freedom of the optical field.

Direct Measurement of a Nonlocal Entangled Quantum State.

Here, for the first time, a method is proposed to directly measure a nonlocal wave function of a bipartite system, using modular values, and is experimentally implemented for a photon pair in a hyperentangled state.

The von Neumann measurement framework describes a dynamic interaction between a target system and a probe. In contrast, a quantum controlled measurement framework uses a qubit probe to control the

Instantaneous indirect measurement principle in quantum mechanics

In quantum systems, the measurement of operators and the measurement of the quantum states of the system are very challenging tasks. In this Letter, we propose a method to obtain the average value of

Zonal Reconstruction of Photonic Wavefunction via Momentum Weak Measurement

Direct measurement of wavefunctions has attracted great interest and many different methods have been developed. However, the precision of current techniques is limited by the use of Fourier

Direct characterization of coherence of quantum detectors by sequential measurements

Abstract. The quantum properties of quantum measurements are indispensable resources in quantum information processing and have drawn extensive research interest. The conventional approach to
