Abstract The composition of the essential oils from leaves of Salvia palaefolia Kunth was analyzed by GC and combined GC/MS. Fifty compounds were identified which constitute more than 84% of the composition. Major compounds in the oil were β-caryophyllene (32.2%) and caryophyllene oxide (31.6%).
