Abstract The composition of the essential oil from leaves of Peperomia galioides HBK was analyzed by GC and combined GC/MS. Eighty-four constituents were identified which constituted more than 99% of the leaf oil. The major compounds in the oil were safrole (42.3%) and epi-α-bisabolol (29.2%).
Natural products from Peperomia: occurrence, biogenesis and bioactivity
The bioactivities of several compounds indicated their potential as antiparasites, antimicrobial, antiviral, cytotoxic agents against several tumoral strains and also as herbicides. Expand
The Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitory Activity of Essential Oils Obtained from Peperomia Ruiz. & Pav. (Piperaceae) Species and Their Chemical Composition
Abstract The essential oils (EOs) obtained from Peperomia tetraphylla (PT), P. pereskiifolia (PP), and P. glabella (PG), were evaluated in MAO-A and -B in vitro inhibitory assays. The oilsExpand
Terpene constituents of the leaves of five Vietnamese species of Clausena (Rutaceae)
The compounds identified in the leaf oils of five Clauseana species growing in Vietnam were analysed for their chemical constituents by using gas chromatography–flame ionisation detector and gas Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. Expand

Piperogalin, a new prenylated diphenol from Peperomia galioides.
Three major prenylated diphenols, including two known compounds, grifolic acid and grifolin, and the new substance piperogalin, have been isolated from Peperomia galoides. Expand
Essential oil analysis of 10 Piperaceae species from the Brazilian Atlantic forest.
A great number of non-oxygenated monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes are derived from E,E-farnesyl-PP, suggesting a preference of these species to synthesize metabolites from this pathway. Expand
(+)-epi-α-Bisbolol Is the Wound-Healing Principle of Peperomia galioides: Investigation of the in Vivo Wound-Healing Activity of Related Terpenoids
In vivo healing study of selected commercially available monoterpenoids yielded two bioactive compounds, α-bisabolol and α-terpineol (3) (ED50 of 228 and 240 mg/g mouse, respectively). Expand
Phylogeny of the genus Peperomia (Piperaceae) inferred from the trnK/matK region (cpDNA).
It is shown that the importance of some morphological characters has been overestimated and that some of these characters presumably have evolved several times independently, and the first molecular phylogeny for the genus Peperomia is provided. Expand
