We compared the complications of varicella requiring hospitalisation in healthy children before and after the introduction of varicella vaccine in Taiwan. Overall, the mean age of children in post-vaccine period was significantly older than in the pre-vaccine period, suggesting a change in the epidemiology of varicella in our country after the introduction of varicella vaccine.
