There are four major complications of peptic ulcer disease (PUD): bleeding, perforation, penetration, and obstruction. Complications can occur in patients with peptic ulcer of any etiology. Despite improvements in the medical management and the lower overall incidence of PUD, there are conflicting data about the incidence of potentially life-threatening ulcer complications. There are important time trends embedded within this stable overall rate of complications: the dramatic decline in the…

Complications of Peptic Ulcer Perforation: A Clinical Case Study
TLDR
It is noted that post operative pulmonary complications and wound infection are more in the alcoholics and smokers, and the incidence of perforation is more in middle aged males.
Peptic ulcer complications requiring surgery: what has changed in the last 50 years in Turkey.
TLDR
The aim of this study is to determine the time trends in complicated peptic ulcer disease and to state the effects of H2 receptor blockers, proton pump inhibitors (PPI), and H. pylori eradication therapies on these complications.
CASE REPORT- RECURRENT DUODENAL ULCER PERFORATION
TLDR
A case of a 70 year old man, who presented with recurrent episodes of duodenal perforation in an interval of 2 years is discussed, which is a surgeon's dilemma and has to be managed to each presentation.
Prognostic factors in peptic ulcer perforations: a retrospective 14-year study.
TLDR
Age, ASA score, and having comorbid disease were found to have an effect on both mortality and morbidity, and the duration of symptoms had no effect on mortality nor morbidity in the present study.

TLDR
The aim of this review is to provide an evidence-based knowledge regarding the mechanism, complications of treatment, and prevention strategies for NSAID- or aspirin-related peptic ulcer disease in Korea.
Clinical Study of Peptic Ulcer Disease
TLDR
It has been found that Duodenal ulcers are more common than gastric ulcers, and the majorly observed site of the ulcer pain is the epigastrium.
Helicobacter Pylori Infections in Peptic Ulcer Perforations: A Retrospective Analysis in Two Referral Hospitals in Douala, Cameroon
TLDR
A hospital-based retrospective cross-sectional study conducted through the review of patients’ records admitted for peptic ulcer perforations in Laquintinie and Douala General Hospitals over a period of 5 years observed a high prevalence of H. pylori infection in patients with peptic Ulcers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Predictive Factors of Surgery in Peptic Stenosis of the Bulb
TLDR
Only gastric atony and seniority of the disease over 9 years were independent risk factors of resistance to the Proton pump inhibitors in multivariate study.
Peptic ulcer disease
TLDR
The presentation, causes and management of peptic ulcer disease in general practice is looked at.
RISK FACTORS AND CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PEPTIC ULCER PERFORATION IN SECONDARY REFERRAL CENTER OF WEST BENGAL
TLDR
The study found that the major risk factors associated with peptic (stomach, duodenum) ulcer perforation were Male, NSAIDs, Smoking, Alcohol, Comorbidities, lower socioeconomic status, acute onset of pain etc.

TLDR
Long-term prognosis of peptic ulcer perforation is poor, and risk factors for late mortality are age, severe concomitant diseases, and postinterventional complications.

TLDR
The incidence of perforation among men decreased, but that among women was stable, thus changing the sex ratio towards a female preponderance at the end of the study period.

Surgery for PPU is still a subject of debate despite more than an era of published expertise, indicating the need for establishing guidelines.
Recent trends in admissions and mortality due to peptic ulcer in England: increasing frequency of haemorrhage among older subjects
TLDR
Admission rates for gastric and duodenal ulcer haemorrhage and duODenal Ulcer perforation increased among older subjects, over a time when prescriptions for proton pump inhibitors, low dose aspirin, oral anticoagulants, and SSRI increased.
Risk of upper gastrointestinal bleeding associated with use of low-dose aspirin
TLDR
The findings from this observational study raise the possibility that prophylactic use of low-dose aspirin may convey an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, which may offset some of its benefits.
