Measurements of electrical resistivity at applied pressures up to $55\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{kbar}$ have been carried out on single crystals of the ferromagnet $\mathrm{Ce}\mathrm{Ni}{\mathrm{Sb}}_{3}$ revealing a complex magnetic phase diagram. The ferromagnetism at ambient pressure at ${T}_{c}=6\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}$ first increases with pressure up to $25\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{kbar}$, then decreases slightly for $Pg25\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm… Expand
Competing magnetic correlations across the ferromagnetic quantum critical point in the Kondo system CeTi1−xVxGe3 : V51 NMR as a local probe
$^{51}$V nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetization studies on CeTi$_{1-x}$V$_x$Ge$_3$ have been performed to explore the evolution from the ferromagnetic ($x = 0.113$) to theExpand
Quantum tricritical point in the temperature-pressure-magnetic field phase diagram of CeTiGe3
We report the temperature-pressure-magnetic field phase diagram of the ferromagnetic Kondo-lattice CeTiGe$_3$ determined by means of electrical resistivity measurements. Measurements up to $\sim$ 5.8Expand
Magnetic order and heavy fermion behavior in CePd1+xAl6―x: Synthesis, structure, and physical properties

Magnetization, resistivity and heat capacity of the anisotropic RVSb3 crystals (R=La–Nd, Sm, Gd–Dy)
Abstract Single crystals of rare-earth vanadium triantimonides RVSb 3 , with R=La–Nd, Sm and Gd–Dy are grown out of solution. The substitution of heavier rare-earths makes the orthorhombic structureExpand
Investigation of the effect of Ni substitution on the physical properties of Ce(Cu(1-x)Ni(x))(y)Sb(2).
The La analogue La(Cu( 0.2)Ni(0.8))(y)Sb(2), has been synthesized and large, positive magnetoresistance of ∼300% is observed at 3 K and 9 T. Expand
Pressure effects on magnetism and superconductivity
This thesis summarizes experimental work using high pressure as a tuning parameter in the study of selected correlated electron systems at low temperatures. This thesis contains 8 chapters and 2Expand
Synthesis, structural characterization, and physical properties of the early rare-earth metal digermanides REGe(2-x) (x ≈ 1/4) [RE = La-Nd, Sm]. A case study of commensurately and incommensurately modulated structures.
Rare-earth metal germanides with the general formula RE(4)Ge(7) (RE = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm) have been synthesized using the In-flux technique and mean-field theory is used to evaluate the correlations between structural and magnetic property data. Expand
Adventures in Crystal Growth: Synthesis and Characterization of Single Crystals of Complex Intermetallic Compounds
