We study a relation between droplet configurations in the bubbling AdS geometries and a complex matrix model that describes the dynamics of a class of chiral primary operators in dual N=4 super Yang Mills (SYM). We show rigorously that a singlet holomorphic sector of the complex matrix model is equivalent to a holomorphic part of two-dimensional free fermions, and establish an exact correspondence between the singlet holomorphic sector of the complex matrix model and one-dimensional free… Expand

BPS geometry, AdS/CFT, and string theory
We first study BPS geometries dual to half-BPS states of field theories with 32 supercharges. These field theories are N = 4 SYM on R×S3, M2 brane theory and M5 brane theory. The dynamics of theExpand
The large-N limit of matrix models and AdS/CFT
Random matrix models have found numerous applications in both Theoretical Physics and Mathematics. In the gauge-gravity duality, for example, the dynamics of the halfBPS sector can be fully describedExpand
On-Shell Action for Bubbling Geometries
We study the half-BPS sector of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In the full sector of the correspondence, on-shell actions in type IIB supergravity have been played crucial roles, for example in theExpand
Geometries and Thermodynamics of Free Fermions
Solutions of type IIB supergravity which preserve half of the supersymmetries have a dual description in terms of free fermions, as elucidated by the “bubbling AdS” construction of Lin, Lunin andExpand

Abstract The LLM's 1 / 2 BPS solutions of IIB supergravity are known to be closely related to the integer quantum Hall droplets with filling factor ν = 1 , and the giant gravitons in the LLM geometryExpand
Emergent Geometries from the BMN Matrix Model
We review recent results of emergent geometries in the BMN matrix model, a one-dimensional gauge theory considered as a non-perturbative formulation of M-theory on the plane-wave geometry. A key toExpand
