ABSTRACT The bacteriophage 118970_sal3 was isolated from water buffalo feces in southern Italy, exhibiting lytic activity against Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium. This bacteriophage belongs to the Myoviridae family and has a 39,464-bp double-stranded DNA (ds-DNA) genome containing 53 coding sequences (CDSs).

Lysis Profiles of Salmonella Phages on Salmonella Isolates from Various Sources and Efficiency of a Phage Cocktail against S. Enteritidis and S. Typhimurium

Overall, animal farms in Thailand provided high abundance and diversity of Salmonella phages with the lysis ability onSalmonella hosts from various environments and continents, and a developed phage cocktail suggests a potential biocontrol against Salmoneella in fresh foods.

Comparative Genome Analysis of Uropathogenic Morganella morganii Strains

Both MM 4 and MM 190 strains are capable of hemolysis and their activity correlates well with a cytotoxicity level on T-24 bladder carcinoma cells, and it is determined that all strains contained urease gene cluster ureABCEFGD and had a Urease activity.

Genomic Characterization of Salmonella enterica Isolates From Retail Meat in Beijing, China

The evolution and genomic features of S. enterica isolates from retail meats in Beijing, China are explored to investigate the genetic diversity, virulence and antimicrobial resistance gene (ARG) profiles of these isolates.

Phylogenetic Relatedness and Genome Structure of Yersinia ruckeri Revealed by Whole Genome Sequencing and a Comparative Analysis

The results showed that the taxonomy of Y. ruckeri strains is better defined by using a core genome alignment and phylogenetic analysis and contributes to a better understanding of the pathogenicity of ERM in aquaculture.

Bacteriophage ST64B, a Genetic Mosaic of Genes from Diverse Sources Isolated from Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium DT 64

The complete sequence of the double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) genome of the Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium ST 64B bacteriophage was determined and suggests that ST64B is a genetic mosaic that has acquired significant portions of its genome from sources outside the genus Salmoneella.

Diversity of Salmonella spp. serovars isolated from the intestines of water buffalo calves with gastroenteritis

Evidence is provided that Salmonella is frequently associated with gastroenteritis in water buffalo calves, particularly S. Typhimurium, and within this serovar there are different pathotypes potentially responsible for different clinical syndromes.

Prokka: rapid prokaryotic genome annotation

Prokka is introduced, a command line software tool to fully annotate a draft bacterial genome in about 10 min on a typical desktop computer, and produces standards-compliant output files for further analysis or viewing in genome browsers.

SPAdes: A New Genome Assembly Algorithm and Its Applications to Single-Cell Sequencing

SPAdes generates single-cell assemblies, providing information about genomes of uncultivatable bacteria that vastly exceeds what may be obtained via traditional metagenomics studies.
