Pheochromocytoma is a cancer derived from the neural crest, mainly occurring at adult age. Rat pheochromocytoma PC-12 cells have an imbalance between pyrimidine ribonucleotide pools in comparison with adrenal medulla tissue1. No imbalance has been noticed between the ribonucleotide pools of the purine pathway. In contrast, leukemic cells have an imbalance between the total ribonucleotide pools within both pathways. Inhibition of’ key-enzymes’ of the purine and pyrimidine pathway, resulting in a… Expand
Quantitative analysis of the pyrimidine metabolism in pheochromocytoma PC-12 cells.
TLDR
It is postulate that at least two different UTP pools exist in these cancer cells derived from the neural crest, and after metabolism of radiolabeled cytidine and uridine into UTP,Radiolabel was distributed in a similar manner from UTP towards UDP-N-acetylhexosamines, UDP-hexoses and RNA-UMP. IMP-dehydrogenase inhibition in human lymphocytes and lymphoblasts by mycophenolic acid and mycophenolic acid glucuronide.
TLDR
It can be clearly demonstrated that not only MPA but also MPAG contributes to the inhibition of both IMP-DH isoenzymes, which might be relevant for the immunosuppressive properties of mycophenolate mofetil in transplant patients. Expand

Evidence for transformation-related increase in CTP synthetase activity in situ in human lymphoblastic leukemia.
TLDR
It is concluded that the increased activity of CTP synthetase is associated with the process of malignant transformation in MOLT-3 cells and offers an attractive target for selective therapy in human acute T-lymphoid leukemia. Expand
Cytotoxicity, differentiating activity and metabolism of tiazofurin in human neuroblastoma cells
TLDR
The results suggest that tiazofurin might be a promising agent for the treatment of children suffering from neuroblastoma. Expand
Adenine and guanine nucleotide content of Triton-extracted cytoskeletal fractions of nonmuscle cells.
TLDR
Results with stable cell lines and with primary cultures exhibited levels of cytoskeletal fraction ADP and GDP consistent with their assembly-induced nucleoside-5'-triphosphatase activities, suggesting there is little, if any, contamination of the cytOSkeletal nucleotide pool by other cellular nucleotides. Radioactive labeling of the adenine nucleotide pool of cells as a method to distinguish among intracellular compartments. Studies on human platelets.
TLDR
High performance liquid chromatography was used to measure the concentrations of ATP, ADP, AMP and IMP from [14C]adenine-labeled platelets under conditions where the granule pool was absent, and the radioactive measurements were directly proportional to the chemical measurements. Expand
Determination of the ADP concentration available to participate in energy metabolism in an actin-rich cell, the platelet.
TLDR
The results suggest that the level of ADP obtained with the common acid extraction overestimates the level available to participation in metabolism. Expand
