The presence and sites of action of two closely related tachykinins, substance P (SP) and neurokinin A (NKA), were examined in the taenia coli of the guinea-pig. SP- and NKA-like immunoreactivity (LI) were demonstrated histochemically in nerve fibres supplying the taenia.
