PURPOSE To compare the in vitro toxicity of indocyanine green (ICG) to that of trypan blue (TB) in human retinal pigment epithelium cell cultures. The use of ICG and TB in macular hole surgery is discussed. DESIGN In vitro cell biology experimental study.
