OBJECTIVES Risk stratification in cardiac surgery is uniquely detailed, led latterly by the EuroSCORE and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) risk calculators. The recently published EuroSCORE II (ES2) algorithms update estimated mortality in a broad spectrum of cardiac procedures.
