A spread spectrum (SS) radar is compared with a conventional impulse radar for through wall imaging in this paper. In order to simulate the real electromagnetic environment, all the echoes are generated via modeling and simulation of the finite-different time-domain (FDTD) method. Results show that the SS radar has a great advantage over the impulse radar in some ways, such as targets recognition, engineering realization and immunity from interference.
