The effects of modified single-step genomic best linear unbiased prediction (ssGBLUP) iterations on GEBV and SNP were investigated using 85,388 age at 100 kg phenotypes from the BRF SA breeding program Landrace pure line animals, off-tested between 2002 and 2013. Pedigree data comprised animals born between 1999 and 2013. A total of 1,068 animals were assigned to the training population, in which all of them had genotypes, original and corrected age at 100 kg phenotypes, and weighted…

Methods for genomic evaluation of a relatively small genotyped dairy population and effect of genotyped cow information in multiparity analyses.
TLDR
Genomic estimated breeding values using ssGBLUP were the least biased, and this method appears to be a suitable tool for genomic evaluation of a small genotyped population, as it automatically accounts for parental index, allows for inclusion of female genomic information without preadjustments in evaluations, and uses the same model as in traditional evaluations.
Single-step methods for genomic evaluation in pigs.
TLDR
This paper compares accuracies of predicted breeding values for daily gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR) in Danish Duroc pigs obtained from different versions of single-step methods, the traditional pedigree-based method and the genomic BLUP (GBLUP) method.
Genomic prediction of simulated multibreed and purebred performance using observed fifty thousand single nucleotide polymorphism genotypes.
TLDR
Training in PB to predict MB tended to be more predictive than training in MB to predict PB due to greater average levels of LD in PB than in MB populations, and improved across breed prediction of genomic merit will require panels with more than 50,000 markers.
A Common Dataset for Genomic Analysis of Livestock Populations
TLDR
The results indicate that validation approaches accounting for relatedness between populations can correct for potential overestimation of genomic breeding value accuracies, with implications for genotyping strategies to carry out genomic selection programs.
Accelerating the domestication of trees using genomic selection: accuracy of prediction models across ages and environments.
TLDR
The results demonstrate the feasibility and remarkable gain that can be achieved by incorporating genomic selection in breeding programs, as long as models are used at the relevant selection age and within the breeding zone in which they were estimated.
Accuracy of estimated genomic breeding values for wool and meat traits in a multi-breed sheep population
TLDR
The results indicate that an increase in the size of the reference population will increase the accuracy of GEBV, and the lower accuracy for terminal and maternal breeds suggests that the density of genetic markers used was not high enough for accurate across-breed prediction of marker effects.
Genome-wide marker-assisted selection combining all pedigree phenotypic information with genotypic data in one step: An example using broiler chickens.
TLDR
Genetic evaluations of broiler chickens for 2 pure lines across 3 generations showed that for traits of high heritability, the accuracy of Bayes A/SUB and ssGBLUP/FDS were similar, and up to 50% better than BLUP/fDS.
Invited review: reliability of genomic predictions for North American Holstein bulls.
TLDR
Genotypes for 38,416 markers and August 2003 genetic evaluations for 3,576 Holstein bulls born before 1999 were used to predict January 2008 daughter deviations and genomic prediction improves reliability by tracing the inheritance of genes even with small effects.
Bias in genomic predictions for populations under selection.
TLDR
The effect of selection on bias and accuracy of genomic predictions was studied in two simulated animal populations under weak or strong selection and with several heritabilities.
Hot topic: a unified approach to utilize phenotypic, full pedigree, and genomic information for genetic evaluation of Holstein final score.
TLDR
A national single-step genetic evaluation with the pedigree relationship matrix augmented with genomic information provided genomic predictions with accuracy and bias comparable to multiple-step procedures and could account for any population or data structure.
